Spa­niard’s Bay man charged with at­tempted mur­der

A 45-year-old Spa­niard’s Bay man is charged with at­tempted murdered as a re­sult of last Tues­day stab­bing in­ci­dent at a shop­ping mall in Bay Roberts.

Ja­son Alexan­der King is fac­ing six charges in all. He ap­peared at Har­bour Grace pro­vin­cial court Wed­nes­day morn­ing. The fe­male vic­tim in­juries were se­ri­ous but not life threat­en­ing, ac­cord­ing to police.

King is also charged with two counts of as­sault, mis­chief for dam­ag­ing a cell phone, ut­ter­ing threats and breach of pro­ba­tion. There was a court or­der re­quir­ing him to have no di­rect con­tact with the vic­tim.

Dol­larama, the scene of last Tues­day ’s events, was closed for the re­main­der of the day at the Bay Roberts Shop­ping Cen­tre, but it re­opened the next day.

King is due back in court April 6 fol­low­ing a seven-day psy­chi­atric as­sess­ment.
