Man accused of attempted murder fit to stand trial
Jason Alexander King of Spaniard’s Bay has been deemed fit to stand trial on a charge of attempted murder.
This decision came last Wednesday following a sevenday psychiatric assessment ordered at Harbour Grace Provincial Court. The 45-yearold King was arrested at the Bay Roberts Mall Tuesday, March 29. Police were called to respond to a stabbing incident at the Dollarama store where King reportedly worked.
A female victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
King is charged with attempted murder, two counts of assault, mischief for damaging a cell phone, uttering threats and breach of probation. An earlier court order prohibited King from having contact with the victim.
The accused’s case will returned to court May 18.
