Suspected biker gang members plead not guilty
Two men with suspected ties to an outlaw biker gang have pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from recent arrests in Harbour Grace.
Lawyer Johnathan McDonald entered the pleas on behalf of Salvatore Cicciarella and James Percy Curran, neither of whom was in court last Wednesday in Harbour Grace when their cases were called. Bob Buckingham represents both men.
Cicciarella and Curran were arrested last month in Harbour Grace after RCMP officers pulled over a vehicle. Police reportedly seized 50 Hydromorphinol pills and $3,100 in cash, along with what court documents refer to as a handgun.
Both men are charged with possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking and concealing a weapon.
Cicciarella and Curran are believed to be members of the Vikings motorcycle club. Among the court orders linked to their release is one prohibiting them from wearing any clothing affiliated with motorcycle clubs.
Curran’s trial is set for Aug. 23, while Cicciarella’s takes place just over a week later Sept. 1.
