Concerning our TV guide

The Compass - - FRONT PAGE -

Dear reader,

Some of you will notice the television listings are not part of this week’s edition. This information no longer fits into our priorities as your community newspaper. TV listings are no longer exclusive and they are readily available through cable providers. In fact, we’re among the last newspapers in North America to still run them. We’d rather use this important space to focus on local news, current affairs, and other content that enhances your reading experience. In today’s issue, for example, you’ll find an informative package on this province and the First World War. This series will continue over the next 12 weeks. Discontinuing the listings won’t be popular with some of our valued readers — we appreciate and understand that — but we believe you will also see better value in our continued focus on providing content that matters.

Respectfully, Steve Bartlett Managing editor
