Com­mu­nity mail­boxes in C.B.N. tar­geted for crime

Bay Roberts RCMP and Canada Post are look­ing into the pos­si­ble theft of mail at sev­eral com­mu­nity mail­boxes in the Con­cep­tion Bay North area.

Cpl. Vince Clark told The Com­pass po­lice first learned about the break-ins April 26. Re­ports came in through­out that morn­ing from Makin­sons, North River, Shearstown and Tilton. He said po­lice sus­pect the in­ci­dents are con­nected.

In a no­tice dated April 26, Canada Post said the in­ci­dents were re­ported to its se­cu­rity and in­ves­ti­ga­tions di­vi­sion, as well as po­lice.

“Al­though the in­ci­dent is be­yond the con­trol of Canada Post, we wish to ex­press our sin­cere re­grets for any re­sult­ing in­con­ve­nience,” the no­tice said.
