C.B.N. musicians earn top honours
Claim gold medals in Royal Conservatory examinations
Two singers and an instrumentalist from the Conception Bay North area claimed gold medals in Royal Conservatory of Music examinations.
Cheyenne Edmunds, Sean Quinlan and Rebecca Sellars received their medals during an awards ceremony in Halifax Oct. 29. They all earned the top marks in Atlantic Canada for their respective discipline.
Cheyenne, an 11-year-old from North River, claimed her medal for Level 2 Voice. Her teacher is Holly Lockyer-Lee. Ten-year-old Sean from Bay Roberts won gold in Preparatory guitar and is taught by Aubrey Noftall. Rebecca, a 12-year-old from Carbonear, earned her medal in Level 4 Voice. Robert Colbourne is her teacher.
Students must score at least 80 per cent in their practical exam and complete co-requisite theory exams for their grade and discipline to be eligible for a medal. Nearly 100,000 exams are written for the conservatory annually across North America.
