FOS­SILS DIS­PLAY IN UP­PER IS­LAND COVE

Hon­our­ing the work of pa­le­on­tol­o­gists who vis­ited the town in 2004 to re­move sev­eral species of fos­sil spec­i­mens, Up­per Is­land Cove now has repli­cas of 570-mil­lion-year-old fos­sils on dis­play at the com­mu­nity’s recre­ation cen­tre. The new dis­play, which is a per­ma­nent ad­di­tion to the cen­tre, was un­veiled Sept. 17. Front row (from left): Town man­ager Neil Shute, Coun. Cindy Dob­bin, Coun.
