Reader wants Victoria to embrace transition house

The Compass - - EDITORIAL -

Dear Editor, Regarding the front page story in The Compass (Dec. 13, 2016) about the transition house in Victoria for the U-Turn Centre.

The Oxford dictionary defines addiction as: 1) physically dependent on a particularly substance; 2) devoted to a particular interest or activity.

This makes me ask the question, who is not addicted to something in one way or another? Let’s be honest with ourselves and do some self-examination here.

Being in the US Air Force military for 20 years, we have no choice of where we had to live; because of this I had many varied life experiences — some positive, some negative. But we had to make up our minds to live and let live. I believe that applies here. Come on fellow Newfoundlanders.

Where is our love and commit- ment to support each other? I know some people who were up against the Grace Centre in Harbour Grace, now only to find everything is working out OK.

Everyone is a fellow traveller on life’s journey. Some have gone off the path and need a helping hand to get back on — let’s give them that hand up. Joy French-Coleman writes from Harbour Grace
