Duo accused of conspiring to traffic hydromorphone
Two people accused of conspiring to traffic an addictive prescription opioid drug made their first courtroom appearances Thursday in Harbour Grace.
Lewis George Hedley Sooley and Emily Marie Williams face charges of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence and counselling an indictable offence. Sooley, 24, faces two counts for the latter charge.
Their alleged crimes took place in Cavendish, the Trin- ity Bay community where Williams, 38, resides. Court documents indicate Sooley lives in Carbonear. They’re accused of counselling each other to sell hydromorphone, a drug typically used to treat pain. Sooley is accused of counselling an additional person in Salmon Cove. All charges relate to a period from Jan. 1-Dec. 20, 2016.
Sooley and Williams will be back at Harbour Grace Provincial Court March 22 for election and plea.
