Duo ac­cused of con­spir­ing to traf­fic hy­dro­mor­phone

Two peo­ple ac­cused of con­spir­ing to traf­fic an ad­dic­tive pre­scrip­tion opi­oid drug made their first court­room ap­pear­ances Thurs­day in Har­bour Grace.

Lewis Ge­orge Hed­ley Soo­ley and Emily Marie Wil­liams face charges of con­spir­acy to com­mit an in­dictable of­fence and coun­selling an in­dictable of­fence. Soo­ley, 24, faces two counts for the lat­ter charge.

Their al­leged crimes took place in Cavendish, the Trin- ity Bay com­mu­nity where Wil­liams, 38, re­sides. Court doc­u­ments in­di­cate Soo­ley lives in Car­bon­ear. They’re ac­cused of coun­selling each other to sell hy­dro­mor­phone, a drug typ­i­cally used to treat pain. Soo­ley is ac­cused of coun­selling an ad­di­tional per­son in Salmon Cove. All charges re­late to a pe­riod from Jan. 1-Dec. 20, 2016.

Soo­ley and Wil­liams will be back at Har­bour Grace Pro­vin­cial Court March 22 for elec­tion and plea.
