Cres­cent Col­le­giate wrestlers medal at provin­cials

Cres­cent Col­le­giate wrestlers claimed mul­ti­ple medals ear­lier this month as the South Dildo school hosted the School Sports New­found­land and Labrador pro­vin­cial tour­na­ment.

The boys team placed third out of the six teams com­pet­ing. Cres­cent Col­le­giate ac­tu­ally tied with Ron­calli, with the num­ber of pins used as a tiebreaker.

In­di­vid­u­ally, wrestlers from Cres­cent earned 10 medals. Tyler Pitcher won gold in the 42-kilo­gram weight class, with Mitchell Cox claim­ing bronze in the same cat­e­gory.

In the 54-kilo­gram divi­sion, Riley Bar­rett and Ethan Clarke claimed sil­ver and bronze re­spec­tively.

An­thony John­son won a sil­ver medal in the boys 58-kilo­gram weight class and team­mate Cameron Reid won bronze. At the 63-kilo­gram level, Kyle March walked away with a bronze. In the 100-kilo­gram weight class, Owen War- ren and Lo­gan Shep­pard won sil­ver and bronze re­spec­tively.

Cres­cent also claimed a medal in girls wrestling over the week­end, with Emily Reid tak­ing bronze in the 52-kilo- gram divi­sion.

She­shat­shiu won over­all in the boys divi­sion while Ron­calli came out on top in the girls divi­sion. Cres­cent Col­le­giate wrestling coach Todd Philpott, who also served as the tour­na­ment con­vener, called it a fun and com­pet­i­tive event, not­ing too there were no in­juries.
