Crescent Collegiate wrestlers medal at provincials
Crescent Collegiate wrestlers claimed multiple medals earlier this month as the South Dildo school hosted the School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador provincial tournament.
The boys team placed third out of the six teams competing. Crescent Collegiate actually tied with Roncalli, with the number of pins used as a tiebreaker.
Individually, wrestlers from Crescent earned 10 medals. Tyler Pitcher won gold in the 42-kilogram weight class, with Mitchell Cox claiming bronze in the same category.
In the 54-kilogram division, Riley Barrett and Ethan Clarke claimed silver and bronze respectively.
Anthony Johnson won a silver medal in the boys 58-kilogram weight class and teammate Cameron Reid won bronze. At the 63-kilogram level, Kyle March walked away with a bronze. In the 100-kilogram weight class, Owen War- ren and Logan Sheppard won silver and bronze respectively.
Crescent also claimed a medal in girls wrestling over the weekend, with Emily Reid taking bronze in the 52-kilo- gram division.
Sheshatshiu won overall in the boys division while Roncalli came out on top in the girls division. Crescent Collegiate wrestling coach Todd Philpott, who also served as the tournament convener, called it a fun and competitive event, noting too there were no injuries.
