CeeBees win Lloyd Neil Memorial Tournament on home ice
CeeBees Minor Hockey claimed a title on home ice at the end of February, winning the Lloyd Neil Bantam Rep 1 Memorial Tournament.
The CeeBees defeated the CBR Renegades 9-1 Feb. 26 to claim the championship banner. The CeeBees and Renegades both went 2-0 in roundrobin action, giving each team a bye to the semifinals.
The team from Harbour Grace needed overtime in its semifinal to advance to the championship game, defeating the Clarenville Caribous 5-4. In the other semifinal, the Renegades defeated the Bay Arena Rovers of Bay Roberts 3-2.
The Lloyd Neil tournament is named after a longtime coach and player from the CeeBees minor system who died in the early millennium.
