CeeBees win Lloyd Neil Memo­rial Tour­na­ment on home ice

CeeBees Mi­nor Hockey claimed a ti­tle on home ice at the end of Fe­bru­ary, win­ning the Lloyd Neil Ban­tam Rep 1 Memo­rial Tour­na­ment.

The CeeBees de­feated the CBR Rene­gades 9-1 Feb. 26 to claim the cham­pi­onship ban­ner. The CeeBees and Rene­gades both went 2-0 in roundrobin ac­tion, giv­ing each team a bye to the semi­fi­nals.

The team from Har­bour Grace needed over­time in its semi­fi­nal to ad­vance to the cham­pi­onship game, de­feat­ing the Clarenville Cari­bous 5-4. In the other semi­fi­nal, the Rene­gades de­feated the Bay Arena Rovers of Bay Roberts 3-2.

The Lloyd Neil tour­na­ment is named af­ter a long­time coach and player from the CeeBees mi­nor sys­tem who died in the early mil­len­nium.
