Bay Roberts, Harbour Grace schools medal at volleyball tournament
Two schools from the Conception Bay North area claimed medals at a Grade 7 girl’s invitational volleyball tournament last month in Arnold’s Cove.
St. Francis School claimed gold in the Tier II division, defeating Riverside Elementary in the Tier II final in straight sets by scores of 25-13 and 25-12.
Elsewhere in Tier II action, Amalgamated Academy’s Grade 7 girls won the bronze medal match. Coach Kristen Smith told The Compass this was the team’s second tournament, making the result all the more satisfying.
The tournament at Tricentia Academy in Arnold’s Cove featured eights teams in two divisions. After roundrobin play, the top two teams from each division advanced to Tier I, with the other teams moving to Tier II for the playoffs.
