Carbonear fire department called to house fire
The local fire department got a call in the early hours of last Wednesday about a house fire in Crocker’s Cove, Carbonear.
The house, located at the corner of Water Street and Burnt Head Road, suffered significant damages from the fire.
Carbonear Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Brent Sweeney said the house was empty at the time. He is unsure whether or not anyone lived there, although the house was occupied a number of years ago.
Crews that were on the scene spent the early hours of Wednesday morning keeping an eye on the building and checking for hot spots. Sweeney says firefighters got home at around 7:30 a.m.
“The situation was handled safely, and thankfully there were no injuries,” said Sweeney. Firefighters responded to a blaze at this home in Crocker’s Cove March 15.
