CeeBees alumnus says no other way to look at Herder result

Comment from article on April 3

The Compass - - News - Douglas Moores, a member of the 1967 CeeBees team that claimed a Herder title, writes from Harbour Grace

I wish to comment on your article of April 3 on the win by the CeeBees of the Herder (see Page B1).

The article was quite positive and showed the depth and character of this team which faced such remarkable obstacles just over 3 years ago- having no where to play- to rise to the top of Senior Hockey in the Province.

The team had a plan, which they executed in exquisite form.

The players responded well and were able to out play and defeat a formidable opponent.

There will be some naysayers however the game was decided by the officials on the ice.

Post-game, the Caribous were true sportsmen and lined up to congratulate the CeeBees. Only when a video appeared which appeared to belie the official on ice the Caribous have.

That is unfortunate. However, both teams know that in every game there are decisions they do not agree with.

Without goal judges and real time video replay in this game, once the four officials confirmed the decision, that’s it. There was nothing further to discuss.

The game went on as it had to. That’s where this matter should end.

The CeeBees fans are loyal and dedicated. The volunteers with the team are decision did react as they exemplary.

The team has the support of good sponsors. The towns in the area are supportive. The executive and those responsible for the hockey operations work well together.

Finally the players are dedicated and hard working, playing for the love of the game and a fine group of young men.

All the efforts of those persons noted above will not be diminished or diluted by the current commentary.

The CeeBees have shown all of us that a good wellexecuted plan has lead to success.

Congratulations to the CeeBees — Herder Champs of 2017.
