Carbonear Collegiate claims silver at provincial basketball tournament
AVONDALE — Carbonear Collegiate came close to winning it all at the Newfoundland Basketball Association Boys Grade 11 East Coast Provincial tournament at Roncalli High School.
Carbonear played well throughout the tournament in Avondale, going undefeated up until the championship game, where they shared the court with Fatima High School. Carbonear lost 71-59, earning the team the silver medal.
Game one saw Carbonear Collegiate face Roncalli, where they won 72-55. Game two pitted them against Baltimore, which ended with a tight score of 80-76.
Those two wins earned the team a guaranteed spot in the semi-finals, where they defeated Baltimore again, ending the game 82-62.
Carbonear Collegiate’s Cody Vaters was awarded as the top defensive player of the tournament.
