Carbonear company awarded tender for night-time construction pilot
The provincial government will test whether it’s worthwhile to carry on working on road projects after dark this construction season.
Concord Paving Ltd. of Carbonear has been awarded a $2.5 million tender to complete a pilot project.
The company will pave a section of the Trans-Canada Highway from Kenmount Road to Salmonier Line at night.
Factors such as safety, productivity, costs and impacts on motorists and residents will be considered and compiled in a report after the project is over.
The provincial government is testing a pilot project to see how repair work on the Trans-Canada Highway fares at night instead of during busy daylight hours.
