Portrait of an unknown soldier

The Compass - - Editorial -

I am seeking information on a First World War soldier.

I recently purchased a portrait of a First World War soldier from an antique store in central Newfoundland. It’s in an oval frame with bubble glass. The only information I have is written on the back and is as follows: 8359 & Mrs. M.J. Nichols, Digby, N.S. This picture supposedly came from the Gander Bay area of Newfoundland some time ago.

Any information, however small, would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully somebody out there can identify him as I would dearly love to give this soldier back his name.

I can be reached at (709) 2272754.

Thanks so much. Brendan Collins writes from Placentia
