N.L. needs lobster nurseries

The Compass - - Editorial -

The cod fishery is doomed because global warming has moved peak cod reproduction northwards.

But we can take the pre-bankruptcy ambitions to heart and start lobster nurseries to seed a new fishery in lobster.

Lobster are more valuable than cod and their peak population must be heading north and east of Nova Scotia driven by global warming.

What I recommend is for the province to re-establish lobster nurseries to populate Newfoundland’s west and south coasts with lobster. William R.W. Smallwood writes from Conception Bay South
