Residents and staff at Luxury Estates got quite a fright when an SUV drove through a wall of the building Thursday morning, June 8.

The SUV, driven by the daughter of a resident at luxury estates, drove through the right side of the dining room at around 10:30 a.m.

Kim Janes, manager of Luxury Estates, told The Compass Thursday afternoon that a staff member who was in the dining room at the time suffered minor injuries, and the driver was brought to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Janes said residents were fed lunch in the lounging area, which had been converted into a makeshift dining room for the time being.

“It’s scary,” said Janes, “but no one was seriously hurt, and at the end of the day, that’s the main thing. A wall can always be replaced.”

Extensive damage was done to the wall, but Janes said that Butt’s Construction hope to have a temporary fix ready for residents tomorrow, and will continue to work on a more permanent fix.

The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, though Janes said the driver was there to pick up her mother, so she feels as though it was nothing more than an accident.
