Bay Roberts crew looks to run the ta­ble at World Pool Cham­pi­onships

A team of pool play­ers from Bay Roberts will com­pete next month at the Amer­i­can Pool­play­ers As­so­ci­a­tion’s pres­ti­gious World Pool Cham­pi­onships in Las Ve­gas.

The West­side Char­lie’s team fea­tures cap­tain Delores Strick­land, co-cap­tain Josh Squibb, and Glen Dow­den, April Drover, Pe­ter Jer­rett and Tony Rick­etts.

The team earned the

right to com­pete in Las Ve­gas at the provin­cial qual­i­fier in May. West­side Char­lie’s lost its first game but won the next four to make it to the cham­pi­onship match.

Ac­cord­ing to Strick­land, this will be the first team from Bay Roberts to com­pete at the World Cham­pi­onship in 11 years. The event — billed as the largest am­a­teur pool tour­na­ment in the world — takes place Aug. 13-20.
