Special Olympics fundraiser in Carbonear
There will be a Special Olympics fundraiser Saturday, Aug. 12 at the Knight’s of Columbus Carbonear starting at 3 p.m. There will be local talent performing from 3-8:30 p.m. with a dance to follow with music by Pynn’s Disco. As a part of the fundraiser, there will be a roast beef supper sold for eat in or take out, plus many door prizes to be won. Please come out and support this wonderful worthwhile cause. Bay Roberts dog show
The Conception Bay Kennel Club will host its annual dog show Aug. 12-13 at Bay Arena in Bay Roberts. Day one will feature the Canadian Kennel Club National Junior Handling competition at 11:10 a.m., along with other events. Best in Show events will be held both days at 3:30 p.m. The event starts at 8 a.m. Saturday and 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

TD Summer Reading Club in Carbonear
Registration for the TD Summer Reading Club is ongoing at Carbonear Public Library. Story Time will be on Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. and Saturday at 1:30 p.m. for ages 0-6, and the Junior Reading Club will be Thursdays at 3 p.m. and Fridays at 1 p.m. for ages 7-12. The program will run until Aug. 12 and features fun stories, songs and crafts every class. For more information, come by the Library during regular business hours or call 596-3382. Museum and gallery
The Road to Yesterday Museum and the Christopher Pratt Gallery in the Cable Building, Water Street, Bay Roberts, will be open daily from 12:30-5:30 p.m. July 3-Aug. 31. This season we have new artwork by Mary Pratt, George Noseworthy, Gary Kennedy and other prominent artists, as well as update military and pharmacy exhibits.
