Sunny skies welcome 155th Harbour Grace Regatta
It was a picturesque race day in Harbour Grace as a large crowd gathered at Lady Lake for the 155th edition of the town’s regatta.
Dozens of crews hit the water July 29 and were cheered on by supporters watching next to the boathouse.
After claiming the men’s championship the previous weekend in Placentia, Lamb’s Rum from St. John’s did the same in Harbour Grace, finishing with an official time of 10:45.87. Harbour Grace Ocean Enterprises Juvenile Men placed second, finishing two seconds ahead of Wade’s Excavating with a final time of 11:31.34.
In the ladies’ championship race, Dawe & Burke Barristers of St. John’s and the Harold Hotel Juvenile Ladies from Placentia were neckand-neck, with the former crew claiming first by seven seconds at 5:47.12. Harbour Grace’s Bella Photography and Beauty in a Flash notched third place by the slimmest of margins, finishing fourtenths-of-second in front of Atlantic Towing from St. John’s.
