Husky Energy has awarded the contract for the construction of the concrete gravity structure (CGS) that will house the fixed drilling platform for the West White Rose project.
SNC Lavalin and Dragados Canada - which each hold a 40 per cent stake in the general partnership - and Pennecon Ltd. will begin work on the CGS at a purpose-built Argentia

Using 76,000 cubic metres of concrete, the CGS will stand 145 metres high, have a diameter of 122 metres and tip the scales at more than 210,000 tonnes once completed.
Construction is expected to last until 2021.
First oil is anticipated for 2022, with an expected production of roughly 75,000 barrels per day produced by 2025.
