But­lerville pee wees claim sil­ver at soft­ball provin­cials

Tak­ing part in a highly com­pet­i­tive 12-team provin­cial tour­na­ment, the But­lerville Bombers al­most won it all.

The Bombers Pee Wee 1 soft­ball squad lost 12-8 against Con­cep­tion Bay Cen­tral 1 in the fi­nal of the Pepsi un­der-14 Pee Wee Boy’s Provin­cial Slo Pitch tour­na­ment. The team came from the event with a sil­ver medal after mak­ing a bid to re­peat as provin­cial champs.

Coach Do­minic Pot­tle said all play­ers had an amaz­ing tour­na­ment, adding he looks for­ward to see­ing them play again next year. He’ll also be coach­ing many of the same kids this fall when hockey starts.

The Bombers were un­de­feated head­ing into the cham­pi­onship game, played Aug. 6 at Kelly Park in Logy BayMid­dle Cove-Outer Cove. This year’s group in­cluded six play­ers from the 2016 cham­pi­onship and five new­com­ers.
