Fox Har­bour Set For Life win­ner takes lump sum

New­found­land and Labrador’s lat­est At­lantic Lot­tery Set For Life win­ner re­ceived her prize in a cheque pre­sen­ta­tion at the At­lantic Lot­tery re­gional of­fices in St. John’s last Fri­day.

Lisa Fran­cis of Fox Har­bour, Pla­cen­tia Bay, was cook­ing a Jiggs din­ner for the fam­ily sup­per last Sun­day af­ter­noon. She headed to the nearby Gate­way Mini Mart in Dunville to pick up some veg­eta­bles and de­cided to buy a Set For Life scratch ticket.

Fran­cis said she scratched the ticket on her way back home and saw the three Set For Life sym­bols and couldn’t be­lieve her eyes when she saw them. Fran­cis and her boyfriend turned around and headed back to get the ticket val­i­dated.

The health-care worker in Pla­cen­tia said she will con­tinue to work, and plans are be­ing made to go to Dis­ney­land with her son and boyfriend. She’s also go­ing to go on a “shop­ping spree for me.” There are plans to build their own home now with her wind­fall.

Set for Life win­ners have the op­tion to take $1,000 a week for 25 years, but she de­cided to take the lump sum al­ter­na­tive of $675,000.
