Thanks for a wonderful time

The Compass - - Editorial -

If space permits, might you publish my thanks to those Newfoundlanders who, across 26 communities and 7,000 kilometres, made my first visit to Newfoundland the best driving holiday I’ve made in my 35 years in North America.

Most of your readers will have no idea who I am, but a few might remember the 70-year-old Australian who clamoured for “genuine Newfoundland cooking” and, in one town, begged for a quick oil change.

I am back in Construction Garbage-Dump-City (airport code YYZ) again, and my friends ask me, “Is it true that Newfoundlanders are friendly?” I respond, “No, it’s not true. Newfoundlanders are friendly, helpful, and have buried themselves deep in my heart.”
