Ac­cused in Bay Roberts gas sta­tion rob­bery back in cus­tody

A man from South River ac­cused of re­cently rob­bing a Bay Roberts gas sta­tion was ar­rested again over the Christ­mas hol­i­days for al­legedly breach­ing con­di­tions of his re­lease.

Evan Blake Tip­ple ap­peared in Har­bour Grace Pro­vin­cial Court Thurs­day, Dec. 28. The 28-year-old con­sented to re­main in cus­tody un­til his next court date on Jan. 9, 2018.

Po­lice ar­rested Tip­ple and charged him with un­law­fully com­mit­ting rob­bery at the Ul­tra­mar gas sta­tion in Bay Roberts on Nov. 26. He un­der­went psy­chi­atric eval­u­a­tion and was re­leased on a re­cog­ni­zance ear­lier this month.

How­ever, the ac­cused faced new charges of re­sist­ing ar­rest, ut­ter­ing threats and breach­ing his re­cog­ni­zance fol­low­ing an al­leged in­ci­dent on Box­ing Day in South River. Those charges against Tip­ple were sworn Dec. 27.
