Trinity-Placentia TeePees claim silver in loss to Harbour Grace team
The Placentia Lions, Conception Bay North CeeBees and TrinityPlacentia Tee Pees all proved their worthiness as champions in the Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador tournaments.
CLARENVILLE, NL — CeeBees Minor Hockey had another golden celebration at a provincial tournament, this time winning at a bantam event in Clarenville.
The Harbour Grace-based team faced off against the Trinity-Placentia TeePees in the Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador Bantam C Tier 2 final. The CeeBees defeated the Whitbourne club 5-3 Saturday, April 7, to earn the provincial banner.
In winning for the Tier 2 division, the CeeBees won five games and suffered only one loss, which came in the team’s very first game, losing 7-1 to Lake Meville Xtreme. The CeeBees bounced back quickly with a 7-5 victory over Saint-Pierre, then defeated the same team again the following day by a score of 6-2.
The CeeBees’ next win came against the St. John’s Caps, a 6-3 victory. Prior to facing the same team in the gold-medal match, the CeeBees beat the TeePees 4-3.
The Trinity-Placentia club finished with one win, three losses and two ties, while the Bay Arena Rovers, competing in the Tier 1 division, had two wins and three losses.
