Carbonear man pleads not guilty to charges linked to alleged sexual assault of female youth
A Carbonear man has pleaded not guilty to charges related to the alleged sexual assault of an underage female.
A publication ban has been ordered to protect the identity of the complainant. The Compass is not reporting the name of the 61-year-old accused, who is facing charges of sexual assault, sexual interference and sexual exploitation. Those charges cover a two-year period between 2015 and 2017.
Defence lawyer John Brown entered the not guilty pleas on behalf of the accused, who was not present in Harbour Grace Provincial Court last Wednesday. Crown prosecutor Richard Deveau suggested three days would be necessary for a trial. The matter will be heard in Harbour Grace Sept. 13-14 and 17.
