Learn how to use bear spray

Get prac­tice us­ing bear spray and learn other tech­niques for be­ing safe around wildlife dur­ing a na­ture walk on Sun­day.

WildSafeBC Okana­gan West­side, Cen­tral Okana­gan Re­gional Parks and Hik­ing Ad­dic­tion are hold­ing the na­ture walk and bear spray demon­stra­tion at Rose Val­ley Re­gional Park from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Peo­ple who at­tend will learn about safety around wildlife and get hands-on prac­tice us­ing in­ert bear spray. Con­tact An­drea Tait at ok­west­side@wildsafebc.com to reg­is­ter.

The Cen­tral Okana­gan re­gional district is warn­ing peo­ple that bear sight­ings are be­com­ing com­mon now in lo­cal parks.

Spawn­ing koka­nee and ripen­ing ap­ples are lur­ing bears into pop­u­lated ar­eas.

Signs of bears have been no­ticed on the Mis­sion Creek Green­way and in Mis­sion Creek and Scenic Canyon re­gional parks.
