Liberals miss chance to right a historical wrong

The Daily Courier - - LETTERS -

What possible reason could the federal government have have for refusing to adopt Bill C-262, which calls on the government to ensure Canada’s laws comply with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

This is the Liberals’ one chance to succeed where so many other governments have failed — or simply failed to act.

Here, failure to act is tantamount to accepting the status quo, where Indigenous peoples are yet again disrespected and their rights abused by the very government that said it would do all in its power to right this terrible wrong.
