Dis­cov­ery of body in or­chard ‘sus­pi­cious’

A body was found in a Kelowna or­chard Wed­nes­day morn­ing, and po­lice are treat­ing the death as sus­pi­cious.

Kelowna RCMP say they were called to an or­chard in the 2100 block of Cooper Road shortly be­fore 11 a.m. for a re­port of a body found.

Of­fi­cers se­cured the scene and, as of 12:30 p.m., the in­ves­ti­ga­tion was on­go­ing.

Po­lice were await­ing the ar­rival of the BC Coroners Ser­vice and had not yet con­firmed the gen­der or age of the de­ceased per­son.

“Po­lice are treat­ing the in­di­vid­ual’s death as sus­pi­cious at this time,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Don­aghey. “Our in­ves­ti­ga­tion is in its early stages, and up­dated in­for­ma­tion will be pro­vided as it be­comes avail­able.”
