War­riors move into first place

Fly­ing un­der the radar in the pow­er­ful In­te­rior Di­vi­sion, the West Kelowna War­riors sud­denly find them­selves in first place.

Ben­nett Nor­lin scored two sec­ond-pe­riod goals as the War­riors ral­lied from an early 2-0 deficit to edge the Sur­rey Ea­gles 3-2 in BCHL ac­tion Tues­day at the South Sur­rey Arena.

Jared Marino scored late in the first pe­riod for the War­riors af­ter Sur­rey chased start­ing goalie Cole Demers with two goals in the first 3:44. Demers made just one save be­fore Nik Amundrud came on and blanked the Ea­gles. West Kelowna im­proved to 8-3-0 and tied with Ver­non Vipers (7-2-0-2) for first place, though the War­riors would have the tiebreaker by virtue of more wins.
