Robert Greig do­nates his 31st unit of blood Oct. 5 as phle­botomist Tif­fany Lane, with the Kelowna Blood Donor Clinic, mon­i­tors his progress. In 1976, Greig, who was a vet­eran sky­diver with more than 250 jumps, was in­jured in a sky­div­ing ac­ci­dent af­ter ex­it­ing from a plane at more than 2,000 me­tres and fall­ing at over 100 km/h. Greig suf­fered a badly bro­ken leg and other wounds. He re­ceived 31 units of blood, four units of plasma and two units of platelets to help save his life. Af­ter the ac­ci­dent, Greig started do­nat­ing blood again.
