Arresting fundraiser benefits Cops for Kids
Kelowna residents will be behind bars this week, raising money for Cops for Kids.
The annual Cops for Kids Kelowna Jail and Bail event will take place on Thursday at the Canadian Brewhouse.
Off-duty officers will be arresting people, who will spend part of the day behind bars to raise money for bail from family and friends.
On reaching their donation goal for Cops for Kids, they will be released from jail.
Money raised will fund medical equipment, therapy and learning and mobility aids for local children.
“We still have spaces available for more arrests, as we aim to beat our fundraising total of $10,000 from last year,” said John Bauer, Kelowna RCMP volunteer auxiliary constable and social worker with the Ministry of Children and Family Development. “It truly amazes me to see all the different members of our great community come together to support a common cause of helping families in need.”
