No response from council

The Daily Courier - - OPINION -

Dear editor: I was glad to see a plea by a long- time Mission resident Heidi Garnett, for the mayor and council of Kelowna to accept their responsibility to do something about the urban deer population ( Courier, April 13).

I do not want to repeat her concern as she expressed the problem very well. I do, however want to point out again, that a group of Upper Mission residents submitted a petition on Aug. 3, with 1,150 signatures asking the city to do something about reducing the urban deer population. To this day, in spite of talking to several council members,we have had no response whatsoever.

They have totally ignored this general petition. As a result, I have lost all respect for our mayor and city council, who have buried their heads in the sand regarding this very critical problem. None of them will certainly get my vote in the next municipal election.

If you signed our petition, I would encourage you to voice a complaint to the city, either by mail, email, or telephone. Frank Bechard
