Drugs, weapons seized from Mer­ritt home

A large quan­tity of drugs and firearms were found in a Mer­ritt home where two men were ar­rested last week.

On Nov. 1, in­ves­ti­ga­tors ob­tained a war­rant to search a residence on Mer­ritt Av­enue un­der the Con­trolled Drugs and Sub­stances Act.

Of­fi­cers ar­rested a man who was found asleep in the residence, along with a sec­ond male res­i­dent who was later lo­cated and ar­rested for traf­fick­ing.

A search of the residence re­vealed sev­eral weapons, in­clud­ing a ma­chete, base­ball bats, a Taser stun gun, an air­soft replica pis­tol and a loaded .22-cal­i­bre hand­gun that had pre­vi­ously been re­ported as stolen in the Lower Main­land.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors also lo­cated about 2.7 kilo­grams of cannabis, 160 grams of heroin, 310 grams of co­caine, 66 grams of metham­phetamine, scales and about $3,500 in cash and a large quan­tity of coins.

The in­ves­ti­ga­tion is on­go­ing.
