Petawawa Civitan members visit Cobden club
Hi once again to all Civitan members and everyone else. Here I am with just a bit of news from The Greater Petawawa Civitan Club.
On Saturday, May 6 Civitan Darlene Lambert and I attended the Cobden and District 43rd anniversary dinner and dance. I have to say we had a good time. Cobden may be a small town but they have a lot of Civitan members and they are having a lot of fun doing what they do to help others.
Then on May 13, Civitans Darlene, Donna Forget, Cathy McCabe, John VandenBarr and myself attended the Spring Convention in Perth. This is where Civitan members get together with other Civitan Clubs to discuss what Civitan is doing and what we are planning on doing in the upcoming months. And we also have a great time with our fellow Civitan members.
The Cobden and District Civitan Club will be holding a golf tournament on Aug. 4. All Civitan Clubs are welcome to take part in this fun day.
On Sunday night, the Greater Petawawa Civitan Club held its Mother’s Day Bingo. The event featured a draw for two special gifts for only great-grandmothers and great-great-grandmothers that I got to present. All other bingo players received bingo markers. Oh don’t worry all you fathers, grand-fathers and greatgrandfathers, we have not forgotten you. Your day is coming up soon.
Heads up! The Petawawa Civitan Club is planning on holding a horse shoe tournament in the fall. We will have more information about this event in the coming months. If you would like to take part in playing horse shoes, please contact Civitan John VandenBarr at 613-717-5674 or see him at our Sunday night bingo. Civitan Marie Arnold is still working on the dog and cat beds.
I hope that everyone has a happy Victoria Day. Bring all your friends and family out to the bingo Sunday night and have some fun. Maybe you’ll have some luck at bingo too. The 52 special is up to $1,300 on Sunday, May 21 and will go up to $1,400.00 if it is not won. There are lots of other great prizes as well. So come out and support the Greater Petawawa Civitan Club Bingo so we can keep supporting those that need our help in the community. For those that do not know where we are located it is at the Petawawa Civic Centre. We are upstairs and there is an elevator for those that need it. The Greater Petawawa Civitan Club wants to welcome all newcomers to our great town of Petawawa. We know you will get to love it here and want to stay forever. We have everything here for both old, young and in-between.
Now, for all of you that are posted, we wish you good luck and enjoy your new posting and we hope to see you all back in Petawawa again. You can always come just for a visit with the friends you have here.
Thought for the week: Three words that you should learn to say are “please” and “thank you.”
Laughter is the best: Helen was complaining to her friends that the towels in her hotel room where so thick she could hardly close her suitcase.
That’s all for this week, God bless.
