From the ashes of the Pembroke Ski and Snowboard Club comes an exciting new partnership.

After losing the use of the Alice Ski Hill back in 2014, the club has decided to donate its assets to worthy causes within the community.

Hali Clouthier, club president, spoke to a pep rally held at Fellowes High School Tuesday afternoon, and announced the former club will be putting $12,500 towards a $40,000 project which would see an outdoor basketball and tennis court installed beside the school.

“It was time to move on,” she said, noting the club decided to liquidate its assets and put the money to good use, promoting fitness and outdoor activities for the community.

“The community has been supporting us for years, so we thought we should support the community,” Clouthier said.

This is a partnership between the club and the Renfrew County District School Board.

The outdoor facility will be secure, possess outdoor lighting and be monitored by security cameras. It will be open for use to the school students and, on evenings and weekends, the general public.

Construction will begin in the summer, with the facility ready by the start of school in the fall.

The community has been supporting us for years, so we thought we should support the community.” Hali Clouthier
