Wa­ter res­cue in Petawawa

PETAWAWA – A 30-year-old man was res­cued af­ter fall­ing into the freez­ing wa­ter of the Petawawa River near Cen­ten­nial Park Mon­day morn­ing. The emer­gency was called in just be­fore 11 a.m. by a lo­cal resident who caught sight of the man flail­ing in the frigid wa­ter. A few min­utes later, wa­ter res­cue crews form both the Town of Petawawa and Gar­ri­son Petawawa ar­rived on scene with County of Ren­frew paramedics. The man was lo­cated by the Petawawa Cat­walk, swiftly re­moved from the wa­ter and treated for hy­pother­mia by paramedics be­fore be­ing trans­ported to Pem­broke Re­gional Hos­pi­tal.
