Water rescue in Petawawa
PETAWAWA – A 30-year-old man was rescued after falling into the freezing water of the Petawawa River near Centennial Park Monday morning. The emergency was called in just before 11 a.m. by a local resident who caught sight of the man flailing in the frigid water. A few minutes later, water rescue crews form both the Town of Petawawa and Garrison Petawawa arrived on scene with County of Renfrew paramedics. The man was located by the Petawawa Catwalk, swiftly removed from the water and treated for hypothermia by paramedics before being transported to Pembroke Regional Hospital.
