Neigh­bour con­fronts thief

A man en­tered a shed at a prop­erty on Queen Street in Ren­frew look­ing to steal some­thing but the crime was in­ter­rupted by a neigh­bour and the thief ran off empty handed. Ac­cord­ing to the OPP, the in­ci­dent oc­curred on Tues­day, Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m. A wit­ness no­ticed a man en­ter a shed in a neigh­bour’s back­yard and con­fronted the sus­pect. The two had a brief phys­i­cal con­fronta­tion and the sus­pect fled on foot. He was last seen run­ning north on Mun­roe Av­enue. The sus­pect is de­scribed as a white male, 6 ‘ tall, medium to heavy build, blond hair, ap­prox­i­mately 40-45 years old. He was wear­ing a dark win­ter parka, car­ry­ing a flash­light and a plas­tic gro­cery bag, and smelled strongly of al­co­hol. Const. Mark Yarmel of the Ren­frew OPP de­tach­ment is lead­ing the in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
