With support from other artists and friends, Jason Blaine hosted his fifth annual Night with the Stars Fundraiser Gala to benefit his hometown.

Taking place Tuesday night at the Pembroke Memorial Centre, hundreds of Blaine’s friends and fans filled the arena to enjoy an evening the star-studded entertainment in the name of charity.

Born and raised in Pembroke, Blaine expressed that he loves organizing the annual benefit show as it’s his way of giving back to the community where he was raised.

“We’re a very generous community and over the past four years we’ve raised more than $300,000 that all goes to support various organizations in Pembroke like the Boys and Girls Club, Algonquin College and the Pembroke Legion – to name a few,” said Blaine. “It’s been a lot of hard work and a labour of love on everybody’s part – I couldn’t have done it without the support of the many generous sponsors and committee members.”

Along with the charitable aspects, the country music star said that the event serves as his annual homecoming and a beautiful opportunity to honour and revisit his roots.

“I moved away from Pembroke in 2001 but I grew up here and these are my stomping grounds. I wanted to give back to the hometown that has been cheering me on through my career the whole time,” said Blaine. “So my whole vision for this event was to be able to bring some of my amazingly talented artist friends to my hometown, throw a big party, play some golf and have some fun.”

Joining Blaine for this year’s musical lineup was The River Town Saints, JoJo Mason and Petric – with The Western Swing Authority supporting the evening ’s performances as the show’s house band.

While The River Town Saints have been a mainstay at the concert, this was a new experience for the latter two.

Nominated for the 2017 Rising Star award at the Canadian Country Music Awards, JoJo Mason is swiftly stealing the Canadian country music scene and has four top-10 singles to his credit including his current hit, Edge of the Night

Winnipeg’s Petric, the brotherly duo of Jason and Tom Petric, has found its stride with several hits in the past year, including the recent smash single 18 Ends. In 2017, the brothers released their sophomore album 18 Ends under Dallas Smith’s record label, Steelhead Music.

The brothers expressed that this they’re honoured to be involved in this year’s event and to have the opportunity to work with Blaine.

“We had a show with Jason Blaine a few years back and a couple of my friends have played in his band, so we grew up being massive fans of his,” said Jason Petric. “We’re very lucky to get to be a part of this event and it’s kind of a dream come true to be honest.”

Following the Nights with the Stars Gala, the good times will keep on rolling on Wednesday as Jason Blaine and his fellow musicians will be hosting their Celebrity Charity Golf Classic at the Pembroke Golf Club. cip@postmedia.com
