Defence spending incompetent

The Daily Observer - - OPINION -

The incompetence displayed by the federal government on defence spending and procurement boggles the mind. Just last week, the defence minister admitted that in 2017 his department had spent only 60 per cent of its budget for the year, i.e. no less than $2.3 billion remained unspent.

Now we learn that the ground radars needed in support of the CF-18 fighter fleet are in a parlous state but replacements are years away – doubtless one of many items of military equipment that desperately require money to be spent on.
