Jeanne-Lajoie holds year-end sports banquet to honour athletes
Athletes and coaches from Ecole Catholique Jeanne-Lajoie gathered recently to celebrate the athletic accomplishments of the past school year.
Gathered in the school cafeteria on June 5, coaches took turns at the podium sharing stories about the highlights of the seasons for the various sports teams before handing out the awards.
The top athletes of the year were Samantha Csisztu and David McLaren and the top teams were junior girls volleyball and midget boys cross-country.
Cross-country: top midget girl – Samantha Csisztu, top midget boy – Rudy Saal, top junior girl – Grace Bradley, top senior girl – Brooklyn EadyEady, top senior boy – Adam Saal.
Basketball: top junior girl – Sabrina MacDougall and Faith Brennan, top junior boy – Mitchell Briand, development award – Nicholas and Sébastien Angrignon, top senior boy – David McLaren, top graduating player – Aaron Ranger.
Golf: top varsity player – Noah Summers
Volleyball: top junior boy – Nikolas Angelkovski and Marc-André Comtois, top senior boy – Jeff McCollough and Brendan Oattes, top junior girl – Madison Pilon and Faith Brennan, top senior girl – Arielle Montgomery and Meghan Ouimet
Hockey: top varsity boys – Kolter Mealing and Riley Chevalier, top varsity girls – Samarah Jones
Mixed Curling: top athlete-Anne-Li Séguin
Cross-country skiing: top junior girl – Samantha Csisztu, top junior boy – Benjamin Beaulieu, top senior girl – Mary Summerby, top senior boy Mathias Beaulieu
Badminton: top Grade 9 boys – Danielle Pelletier and Marc-André Comtois, top Grade 9 girls – Grace and Marie Bradley, top girl Grades 10-12 – Miranda Saunders, top boys Grades 10-12 – Mitchell Briand and Liam Graydon
Soccer: top junior girls – Camryn Biggs and Kristel Trudeau, top senior boys Jonatan Horne and Nathan Gaudette, top senior girl (performance and intensity) – Arielle Montgomery and known as the wall goalie Abigail Perreault-Saunders.
Track and Field: top midget girl – Samantha Csisztu, top junior girl – Sabrina MacDougall, top senior girl – Vanessa Renguette, top midget boys – Guillaume Dostie and Rudy Saal, top junior boy – Guillaume Larouche, top senior boy – Adam Saal
Softball: top girl Madison Pilon, top boy – Sébastien Gaudette

Jeanne-Lajoie's junior girls volleyball team was named the girls team of the year at the year-end athletic banquet. At the year-end athletic banquet, Jeanne-Lajoie recognized Samantha Csisztu and David McLaren as the top athletes.
The midget boys cross-country team was named Jeanne-Lajoie's top boys team. Team members (from left) coach JP Sauvé, Guillaume Dostie, Benjamin Beaulieu and Rudy Saal. Missing is William Pigeon. The team competed at OFSAA, finishing 24th in the province in what SauvÈ called an incredible season.
