Po­lice seize tonne of coke, ar­rest 8 peo­ple

Ber­lin — po­lice in the Ger­man city of ham­burg say they have seized more than a tonne of co­caine and ar­rested eight sus­pects fol­low­ing an in­ves­ti­ga­tion that lasted sev­eral months. on thurs­day, of­fi­cers fol­lowed a truck they sus­pected was be­ing used to trans­port drugs to a ham­burg haulage com­pany. By the time spe­cial forces ar­rived, five men had un­loaded over a tonne of co­caine in 1-kg pack­ets. au­thor­i­ties sus­pect there were more drugs in the con­tainer, which they were still un­load­ing Fri­day. po­lice said the five — three Ger­mans, an ital­ian and a pole — were ar­rested. so were an­other three, in­clud­ing an al­leged se­nior mem­ber of the hell’s an­gels whom of­fi­cials sus­pect was in con­tact with drug smug­glers. po­lice also con­ducted raids in which $194,000 in cash was seized.
