McDonald is new RC education superintendent
The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board has announced a new superintendent of education.
Mike McDonald was appointed at a special board meeting Aug. 30.
McDonald comes to the board from the Ontario Ministry of Education as a regional manager in the field services branch.
He also has experience as a high school principal, as well as five years as a superintendent responsible for human resources, leadership and training.
“Mr. McDonald was selected from a group of highly qualified candidates interested in this position,” education director Chris Roehrig said in a news release this week. “Mike brings a wealth of varied experiences and skills and I look forward to working with him on our senior administrative team.”
McDonald succeeds Pat Daly, who last June was appointed education director of Halton Catholic District School Board.
And he joins the board’s other superintendents of education, Michelle Shypula and Leslie Telfer. Tom Grice is superintendent of business and treasurer.
McDonald will be responsible for secondary school operations, program/curriculum, student success initiatives, continuing education, academic staffing and labour relations.
McDonald has a masters of education from Brock University, a bachelor of arts, honours, from McMaster University and is in the process of obtaining his doctorate of education from the University of Toronto.
“I am looking forward to working with trustees, staff, students and parents ...,” said McDonald.
