I hope you all enjoyed the Victoria Day long weekend. The weather was great until Monday morning.
The Grade 8 students of Rockyford School will be having a Bottle Drive on Saturday, May 23. They are raising funds to go towards their trip to Edmonton in June. If you would like to donate and will not be home, you can drop off your bottles at the school on Saturday morning. Thanking you in advance for your support.
Congratulations to the Standard High School Graduating class of 2009. Nine students will be graduating on Friday, May 22. Rockyford graduates are; Richard Newitt, Courtney O’Keefe, Marina Muenchrath, Tony Lam and Dana Bakker. Best of luck to all of you in your future endeavours.
Birthday greetings to those of you celebrating this week are sent to; Edith Kathol, Steve de Groot, Tammy Roppel, Cody Burnett (happy 2nd), Kevin Koester, Brad Henke, Brody de Groot, Terry Wolfs, Jack Sherman, Pam Eleniak and Taryn Phillips. Happy Anniversary to; Warren and Tyla Kalbhen, Norman Nelson and Alison Roppel and to anyone else celebrating a special occasion this week.
There will be a Baby Shower in honour of Nataleah Grace, daughter of Chelsea Lindon and Jason Sheppard on Thursday, May 28 from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Rockyford Community center. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Community Garage Sale will take place on Satur- day, June 6 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. ( There will be a $5.00 per household charge to cover the cost of advertising).
The Rockyford Volunteer Fire Fighters are still looking for 5 people to volunteer at their June 14 and 15 Casino in Calgary (in the count room). If you can help them out, please give Wayne a call at 403-5333930.
The Rockyford Library invites you to bring your dog to the Library on Saturday, May 30 at 10 a.m. Leah Smith, of Modern Dog Obedience and Training will be joining them to present a free of charge Beginner Basic Obedience class. This event is for all ages (people and dogs), but children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Bring your puppy or dog, a collar and leash and some treats. Leah will work with you and your dog to learn; Sit, Name Attention and some Tricks. Bring Your Dog to the Library will be cancelled in case of rain.
“Puzzle and Popcorn” nights continue at the Library on Thursday, May 21 from 6 – 8 p.m. Anyone interested is welcome to drop by and work on some puzzles and enjoy some popcorn.
The “Speaking volumes” book club for adults will meet on Wednesday, May 27 at 7 p.m. “Speaking Volumes” meets regularly on the fourth Wednesday of each month. If you are interested in joining the discussion (and enjoying the wonderful snacks), drop by and pick up a copy of “House of Sand and Fog” by Andre Dubus lll.
Just a reminder that the “Toxic Waste Round-Up” will be on Saturday, May 23. Please drop off your items at the blue County Shop ( Just past the railroad tracks) and NOT the Fire Hall.
The Scrapbooking weekend that was to be held on May 23 and 24 has been cancelled.
