I hope you all en­joyed the Vic­to­ria Day long week­end. The weather was great un­til Mon­day morn­ing.

The Grade 8 stu­dents of Rock­y­ford School will be hav­ing a Bot­tle Drive on Satur­day, May 23. They are rais­ing funds to go to­wards their trip to Ed­mon­ton in June. If you would like to do­nate and will not be home, you can drop off your bot­tles at the school on Satur­day morn­ing. Thank­ing you in ad­vance for your sup­port.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to the Stan­dard High School Grad­u­at­ing class of 2009. Nine stu­dents will be grad­u­at­ing on Fri­day, May 22. Rock­y­ford grad­u­ates are; Richard Ne­witt, Court­ney O’Keefe, Ma­rina Muenchrath, Tony Lam and Dana Bakker. Best of luck to all of you in your fu­ture en­deav­ours.

Birth­day greet­ings to those of you cel­e­brat­ing this week are sent to; Edith Kathol, Steve de Groot, Tammy Rop­pel, Cody Bur­nett (happy 2nd), Kevin Koester, Brad Henke, Brody de Groot, Terry Wolfs, Jack Sher­man, Pam Ele­niak and Taryn Phillips. Happy An­niver­sary to; War­ren and Tyla Kalb­hen, Nor­man Nel­son and Ali­son Rop­pel and to any­one else cel­e­brat­ing a spe­cial oc­ca­sion this week.

There will be a Baby Shower in hon­our of Nataleah Grace, daugh­ter of Chelsea Lin­don and Ja­son Shep­pard on Thurs­day, May 28 from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Rock­y­ford Com­mu­nity cen­ter. Every­one is wel­come to at­tend.

The Com­mu­nity Garage Sale will take place on Satur- day, June 6 from 9 a.m. un­til 3 p.m. ( There will be a $5.00 per house­hold charge to cover the cost of ad­ver­tis­ing).

The Rock­y­ford Vol­un­teer Fire Fight­ers are still looking for 5 peo­ple to vol­un­teer at their June 14 and 15 Casino in Cal­gary (in the count room). If you can help them out, please give Wayne a call at 403-5333930.

The Rock­y­ford Li­brary in­vites you to bring your dog to the Li­brary on Satur­day, May 30 at 10 a.m. Leah Smith, of Mod­ern Dog Obe­di­ence and Train­ing will be join­ing them to present a free of charge Begin­ner Ba­sic Obe­di­ence class. This event is for all ages (peo­ple and dogs), but chil­dren 10 and un­der must be ac­com­pa­nied by an adult. Bring your puppy or dog, a col­lar and leash and some treats. Leah will work with you and your dog to learn; Sit, Name At­ten­tion and some Tricks. Bring Your Dog to the Li­brary will be can­celled in case of rain.

“Puz­zle and Pop­corn” nights con­tinue at the Li­brary on Thurs­day, May 21 from 6 – 8 p.m. Any­one in­ter­ested is wel­come to drop by and work on some puz­zles and en­joy some pop­corn.

The “Speak­ing vol­umes” book club for adults will meet on Wed­nes­day, May 27 at 7 p.m. “Speak­ing Vol­umes” meets reg­u­larly on the fourth Wed­nes­day of each month. If you are in­ter­ested in join­ing the dis­cus­sion (and en­joy­ing the won­der­ful snacks), drop by and pick up a copy of “House of Sand and Fog” by An­dre Dubus lll.

Just a re­minder that the “Toxic Waste Round-Up” will be on Satur­day, May 23. Please drop off your items at the blue County Shop ( Just past the rail­road tracks) and NOT the Fire Hall.

The Scrap­book­ing week­end that was to be held on May 23 and 24 has been can­celled.
