Drumheller RCMP are handing out positive tickets to youths acting responsibly and practicing proper safety.

Drumheller RCMP Staff Sergeant Grant MacDonald explained the Positive Ticket program: “When an RCMP Member sees a young person who is demonstrating something positive, when it comes to safety such as a child wearing a helmet at the skate park or picking up their skateboard to walk it across marked crossings. The ticket will entitle them to a swim pass at the Aquaplex.”

Drumheller Asset Development Committee will be developing new Positive Tickets in the spring, which will give the ticket holder the opportunity to decide between using the pass for the Aquaplex or the BCF. These will also be tracked as to where the usage is more frequent.

MacDonald further said, “The RCMP wants a positive connection between officers and young people. Youth in Drumheller have a lot of positive assets so we want to draw that out.”

Getting this ticket is a good thing. Promoting good behavior, practicing safety and acting responsibly can earn the positive ticket handed out by RCMP.
