Dragons drop two over week­end

It was an­other tough week­end for the Dragons as they fell two points be­hind the Can­more Ea­gles and fifth in the Viterra South af­ter two losses.

On Fri­day night, Fe­bru­ary 5 the Dragons hosted the Spruce Grove Saints at home, and then Satur­day they headed to Brooks. While the Dragons fell on both oc­ca­sions, they were two very dif­fer­ent games De­spite lead­ing for most of Fri­day night in front of a sea­son record 848 fans, a late surge by Spruce Grove, dashed the Dragons’ hope for a home vic­tory.

The Dragons saw goals from Levi Wun­der and Avery Bel­court as the first pe­riod ended tied at two.

Just 53 sec­onds into the se­cond pe­riod Clint Fil­brandt put the Dragons up 3-2.

This lasted un­til three min­utes into the third pe­riod when the Saints took over and scored three straight goals.

Fi­nal score: 5-3. Matt Muzyka had three as­sists and Evan Tschumi had two.

On Satur­day night, the Dragons were in Brooks to face the Ban­dits. Hob­bled by in­juries and Evan Ro­chowiak serv­ing a sus­pen­sion, the Dragons were out­gunned by the Ban­dits.

Wun­der scored the lone goal for the Dragons 12 min­utes into the third pe­riod, as the Ban­dits ran away with a 9-1 vic­tory, out­shoot­ing the Dragons 57-22.

Tonight, ( Wed­nes­day, Fe­bru­ary 10) the Dragons are in Lloy­d­min­ster and this Satur­day, are back home to face the Oko­toks Oil­ers. The Dragons led the way for the bulk of Fri­day night’s game ver­sus the Spruce Grove Saints, but fell in the third pe­riod. This Satur­day they will be back home to face the Oko­toks Oil­ers.
