Well, we say good-bye to leap year February and hello to March...spring is not far away friends. As winters go, this one has been quite easy on us...not as much snow and definitely milder temperatures. It is a little chillier today at -14 and I see a light dusting out there this Monday morning as I begin to write.

And as the spring season nears, it means the Morrin Community Hall Association will hold their annual meeting in a few weeks...Tuesday, March 22 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hall and everyone is wel- come. They invite newcomers as fresh input and faces are always appreciated. I will post this announcement again the week before the meeting.

And a reminder that the Morrin Figure Skating Club is putting on their spring carnival this Sunday, March 6 at 2:00 p.m. over at the Morrin Arena Sportsplex. I noticed a couple of pictures of the group in the paper last week as they participated in final competitions and did very well...way to go girls! Now it is time to wrap up your skating season with a “Cartoon Crazy show on ice”...have fun!

So, our Morrin School curling teams are doing well also. I think it is pretty neat that our school principal Don Yavis sends updates and notes of encouragement out to the kids on the school facebook page.

And that is all my upbeat news for today...on a sad note, our corner of the world lost a lovely, kind-hearted soul as cancer claimed the too young, precious life of Christine O’Brien. I did not know her well. In my dealings with her in past years at Western Financial where she worked, I liked her instantly with her nice smile and soft-spoken way. It breaks my heart that she had to say good-bye too soon to her dear husband Steve and young sons Connor and Kieran. Even in her last days, with pain in her eyes, she still managed to summon up a warm smile. No more suffering Christine... dear girl...glory is real and heaven is richer We do not understand the lofty thoughts of God...His ways are not our ways, yet we trust in Him... Psalm 48:14 “For this God is our God for ever and ever, He will be our guide even to the end.” Her family and friends will gather this Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Morrin Community Hall to remember and celebrate her life. Heartfelt thoughts and prayers to all who loved her... to her O’Brien family, to sisters and brother, mom and dad... “Blessed are they that mourn for they will be comforted.”
